Forget big society, the truth is…’The Big Picture’!

We’ve all heard of ‘conspiracy theories’ and no doubt passed them by without a second thought, but when I read this piece; http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/lamb/120325  (An article by Henry Lamb) I thought, this is leading to a treaty of some description. I was right because twelve months later, the EU / US FTA, was born..

The story in the link refers to America, because it was written by an American, but the truth is, this is worldwide. Like most of you, I passed it by, but started looking at some law changes and asked myself questions, like “why are they changing that” and “why are they doing this”? Take the planning laws, this Tory led ‘coalition’ have just taken planning from Local government and put the final say in the hands of central?

I have written about the EU / US FTA on here ‘Not in our name’ and ‘TTIP…how it affects us’, this is when I tied the FTA to Agenda 21. This also goes under the title ‘The Millennium Papers’! http://www.unedforum.org/publications/millennium/mill%20paper2.pdf

The opening paragraphs of millennium papers are frightening, to say the least;

Participating in a UN advocated planning process would very likely bring out many of the conspiracy-fixated groups and individuals in our society such as the National Rifle Association, citizen militias and some members of Congress / Parliament. This segment of our society who fear ‘one-world government’ and a UN invasion of the United States and UK through which our individual freedom would be stripped away, would actively work to defeat any elected official who joined ‘the conspiracy’ by undertaking LA21. So, we call our processes something else, such as comprehensive planning, growth management, sustainable development or smart growth. On closer examination, however, LA21 can look unfamiliar and create discomfort, as it calls for a significant reorientation of the planners’ role. It asks for a change of orientation from technocratic to political (not partisan). This fundamental difference has not been well recognized by the planning profession, or those who employ planners. Not too surprisingly, NGOs and individuals have expectations for changed institutional behaviours consistent with the principles of LA21.

They claim more than 1200 cities around the world have joined their organization for assistance in implementing “sustainable development” — defined to be the recommendations contained in Agenda 21. More than 600 of these cities are in the United States.”

In the UK, we have a number of Cities that have signed up to this Agenda 21, Tony Blair signed us to the whole act in 1997?

“….after Agenda 21 was adopted, an international organization known as the “International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives” (ICLEI) was established to help implement the goals of Agenda 21 in local communities.”

Interesting body is the International Council for Local Environment Initiatives (ICLEI) who number among their membership the following in the UK:

  • Aberdeen
  • Birmingham City Council
  • Bristol City Council
  • City of Glasgow
  • Craigavon Borough Council
  • Greater London Authority
  • Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Newcastle City Council
  • Royal Haskoning (Associate Member)
  • Woking Borough Council

to which list can be added the London Borough of Hammersmith & FulhamHarrow. along with South Wiltshire as further examples.

Few people understand that it is standard operating procedure for the U.N. to issue a massive non-binding policy document to test the water and make adjustments to its plans before introducing the real, legally-binding treaty. For example, the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a “soft-law” instrument, was the precursor to the two 1966 U.N. Covenants on Human Rights. The 1992 U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change called for “voluntary” compliance. But at the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention, the group agreed to create a Kyoto Protocol to the Convention that would set legally-binding targets for all member nations.

I have received a comment on this(below) and there is a link in this blog which affects us all. It’s about the re-bulding of Christchurch NZ and how the government are ripping people off on their damaged and some times undamaged properties, in the name of Agenda 21. Have a look here;

One Response to Forget big society, the truth is…’The Big Picture’!

  1. rogerthesurf says:

    Agenda21 is alive and well.

    In my country we are been taken for a ride with virtual confiscations of land whenever there is an excuse, the pulling down privately owned properties in the CBD of my city in order to rebuild to a sustainable model and the destruction of vulnerable businesses.

    Agenda 21 is in our local government, legislation, education and God only knows where else.

    All this is in my blog at http://www.thedemiseofchristchurch.com
    There are two posts there, read both and its important you check out the links

    I also suggest you all check your own national and local government websites for the following words.
    “agenda21″, “ICLEI”, “sustainable” and “population”.

    You may get a shock!

    Cheers

    Roger
